How much does a website redesign cost in Australia (2026)?

What a website redesign costs in Australia in 2026, from a refresh to a full rebuild, with the price ranges Australian studios publish and what pushes a quote up.

A website redesign in Australia typically costs about $2,000 to $5,000 for a visual refresh, $4,000 to $12,000 for a full redesign of a small-business site, and $8,000 to $25,000 or more for an established business that needs a rebuild on a new platform. Large, custom and enterprise sites start around $15,000 and can pass $100,000.
Those ranges come from prices Australian studios publish themselves (sources below, checked in October 2026). I've designed websites and apps for 8+ years and I'm based in Sydney, so here's what sits behind those numbers, what pushes a quote up, and how to avoid paying for a redesign you don't need.
Website redesign costs in Australia (2026)
- Visual refresh: about $2,000 to $5,000. New colours, type, photos and layout on the same platform, with the same pages. Usually 2 to 4 weeks.
- Full redesign of a small-business site: about $4,000 to $12,000. New page designs and a rethought structure and content, usually on the same platform. Usually 4 to 8 weeks.
- Rebuild for an established business: about $8,000 to $25,000+. A new design on a new platform or content system, often with more pages, integrations or a move off an old website builder. Usually 8 to 12 weeks.
- Large, custom or enterprise sites: from about $15,000 to $100,000+. Custom builds, large online stores, booking systems, member areas and enterprise sites.
Where these figures come from:
- Spark Interact, a Sydney studio, lists a website refresh at $2,000–$5,000 (2–4 weeks), a revamp at $5,000–$12,000 (4–8 weeks) and a full redesign at $8,000–$25,000+ (8–12 weeks), with enterprise sites from $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
- RockingWeb's 2026 guide puts a typical Australian small-business redesign at $4,000–$8,000 (September 2026).
- WP Creative, a Sydney WordPress studio, starts custom website projects from $15,000.
What pushes the price up
The number of pages matters less than you'd think. These matter more:
- Page templates, not pages. A 40-page site built from four templates (home, service, location, contact) costs far less to design than a 10-page site where every page is different.
- Content. Who writes the words and takes the photos? If the designer has to, budget for it. If you supply finished content, the price drops.
- A new platform. Moving from Wix, Squarespace, Webflow or Framer to WordPress, Shopify or a coded site means rebuilding templates and moving content, plus redirects so you keep your Google rankings.
- Integrations. Bookings, payments, CRMs, member logins and online stores all add design work and build time.
- Design and build, or design only. Some quotes include building the site; others hand designs to your developer. Check which one you're comparing.
Why quotes vary so much
Two quotes for "a website redesign" can be $3,000 and $30,000 and both be fair, because they're for different jobs. Before you compare, ask each studio or freelancer:
- How many page designs are included, and how many rounds of changes?
- Is building the site included, or only the design?
- Who writes the content and supplies the photos?
- How will my Google rankings be protected (redirects, page titles, sitemap)?
- Who owns the domain, hosting, design files and code when it's done? (The answer should be you.)
- Will I be able to update the site myself, and will you show me how?
- What isn't included, and what would cost extra later?
A quote that's far lower than the others usually leaves something out, and the cost turns up later as extras.
Do you need a full redesign?
Often not. Many sites lose enquiries because of a handful of problems: an unclear headline, no proof, no prices, a long contact form or a poor phone layout. Fixing those costs far less than starting again.
Before you pay for a redesign, find out what's actually wrong. The free website check takes about a minute and lists the fixes to start with. For a designer's view, an audit sprint from $750 (AUD, ex GST) reviews your most important page and ranks what's costing you customers, so you only redesign what needs it.
How I price a redesign
I don't publish a single redesign price, because sites differ too much. After a short call and a look at your current site, you get a fixed quote, so the number can't creep while the work happens. That's how my website and app redesign work is quoted: I design the new site and can build it too, on WordPress, Shopify or a coded site with a simple content editor. At the end you own everything (the domain, hosting, design files and code), and the site is set up so you can update it yourself.
The short answer
In Australia in 2026, expect about $2,000–$5,000 for a refresh, $4,000–$12,000 for a full small-business redesign and $8,000–$25,000+ for a rebuild, with large and custom sites from about $15,000. Scope drives the price more than page count, so compare fixed quotes for the same scope, and find out what's broken before you pay to redesign everything.
